I haven’t posted since last year so I figured it was time to put something thought provoking on my blog. I realize how difficult it has been not having regular posts to read on this blog, so getting some current content on here is a service to my fans (all 1 or 2 of you, if that many). Think about these questions and give me your thoughts: Who of the current crop of GOP candidates do you like, dislike or think has the best chance of beating President Obama in the 2012 election? Do you like Obama? Why or why not? Has he done a good job or is he a failure? Let me know what you think and let’s get a conversation going.
I have no idea about the current crop of GOP candidates, so I can’t answer your first question without making stuff up (which I can do, but this may not be the place for that).
I think it would be interesting if Donald Trump runs. I don’t know that he could win given his divisive personality and lack of tact, but I think his lack of tact would lead to some good debates on issues that most politicians talk around and never actually address (like trade with China, how China is buying much of our debt and gaining lots of potential power, what should we be doing to combat terrorists, how can we fix the economy if we keep making it worse by going further in debt, etc.) Perhaps he could bring more focus to the important issues.
I have not been impressed with Obama. I had initially figured he would “accomplish” more of his agenda, but his incompetency has hindered that, I think. He often seems to try hard to be popular, to be in the public’s eye (like talk shows), when I figure there is no shortage of work to do.
I’m afraid that Obama might win again, just because he talks about change and people apparently fall for it. But let’s look at his campaign promises of transparency and not playing partisan politics anymore and fixing the economy, and let’s realize he’s a politician just like most of the others…
