How many times have we heard the tired old mantra from the Democrats in Congress: “I support the troops, but I don’t support the war (even though I voted for us to go to war
).”? Well now they are seemingly withdrawing their support for our troops as well. Instead of working on a bill to fund the troops that are fighting the war on terror, they’ve wasted a lot of time passing a pork-packed bill that President Bush has promised to veto. Why waste valuable time? This money is needed by April 15 to keep fighting according to plans made by Generals in Iraq and Afghanistan. Without that needed funding, our ability to wage the war as effectively as we should will be compromised greatly. Political posturing isn’t going to feed our troops, repair and provide equipment, and bring in needed reinforcements. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if Americans de-funded Congress every time they did something the citizenry didn’t agree with.
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi need to get their heads on straight and lead our Congress (in both houses and both parties) to do the right thing by our troops. Whether or not you agree with the war, taking care of our soldiers and their mission should be top priority. What do you think?
Congressional Inaction for Real Troop Funding Appalling

YES! I am the first commenter to be published! Sweet! Do I win a prize? Free lunch or something?
OK, in all seriousness, I do agree with what you’ve stated – either be for the war (and thereby the troops) or completely against it (and thereby the troops). Our military is VOLUNTARY, so you can’t say “well, I’m supporting the troops because I feel so sorry for them that they’re in the terrible mess of a war, so I’m against the war… but I’m supporting the troops… but I’m cutting their funds…”
Huh??
Just come out and say like Kerry did that you think the troops are too dumb to know any better, so you – the elitist – have to help them out by cutting off their support!!
The nerve…
